ROAR for Crockett

Posted by on Feb 8, 2013 in babies, boys, fabric, Finished Projects, finished quilts, kids, Quilting, Robert Kaufman | 1 comment

I need to wash and dry this puppy so I can get good crinkly shots of it, but it’s useable now, which is why it’s in use on the floor this very moment. Crockett likes it. Midnight likes it. I like it. YAY ROAR!

Modern Bliss

I used some scraps from sewing up a Modern Bliss lap quilt to make a little mug rug: I’m taking a Craftsy class (strip paper piecing) to improve my skills, and this was one of the blocks in the class. I feel much more confidant with my paper piecing now, and am bummed that I’ve now done all the blocks. I might need to get a paper piecing pattern book (suggestions welcome)… (this is the back. I’m loving wide binding on the back right now) I put lots and lots of quilted rays on this one. the whole finished block is 7.5″, so it’s quite small.  A little bit...

(the quilting says: made for Leonora, with love, Mama, 2013) quilt back quilt front I was trying to figure out the colors to use on this quilt, and the Bean came along to “help” then she sweetly asked if she could pick the fabrics, so she did. and my spectrum mug rug became a purple/gold/pink doll quilt just like...

A quilt for Kai

whipped out a UFO and bound it quickly so I could gift it to a surprise arrival. (Our friends got the call Friday that their new baby was ready to adopt on Sunday, I found out on Monday). it was sort of an idea tester quilt, so it’s definitely not perfect, but hopefully its imperfections will make them feel like it can be used and spat up upon, etc, right? it’s all Kona and ROAR (both Robert Kaufman fabrics, ROAR is designed by the same person who did The Circus, which I LOVE), and I LOVE them, esp. in this colorway. so bright and cheery! I made this quilt just to test out...

Radiance baby blanket

So, Robert Kaufman has this new fabric, called Radiance, that’s a silk cotton blend. SUPER soft and silky satin. It’s gorgeous, but a little intimidating. slippery. so, I, uh, *suggested* that it might be helpful if I worked with it so I could tell my friends/the world what it was like. I started with something super simple. strips cut from a half yard pre-cut pack. I laid out the back, then the batting, then did a quilt as you go thing on it, strip by strip. (I still can’t figure out the past tense of “quilt as you go,” quilt as you went? quilted as I go? Quilt...

Baby Crockett at the Circus

Posted by on Dec 12, 2012 in babies, fabric, Fall Market 2012, Finished Projects, finished quilts, kids, patchwork, Quilting, Robert Kaufman | 0 comments

I really really love the fabrics Marie Perkins of Print and Pattern does for Robert Kaufman.  LOVE. As soon as I saw the mock-ups for The Circus, I got inspired. I got the fabrics, and cut them up in July? June? no clue. OMG it was tedious cutting. I totally lost steam. But when I went on the LAMQG retreat last month, I was reinspired, and whipped out this top in an hour or so (hence the imperfect points. oh well). the back is just as fun as the front! and he likes it a LOT. it makes him extra wiggly! (finished quilt measures about...
