KCWC: Monster butt Longies

I’m *still* waiting for my Ottobres, which I want for D, and the Bean has been such a disaster I’m totally unmotivated to sew for her from her sloper. So I’m knitting another pair of longies for Crockett. I’m using the Budgie Bloomers pattern again, but I think I figured out how to make them into monster butts. Hopefully they’ll be cute. I haven’t decided if I’ll put teeth on or not…

A boy doll for the Bean’s boy…

My daughter’s love is a little boy called Pickle (fate, right?). For his birthday she and I decided he needed a boy doll so he didn’t always have to play with the girl dolls. She chose the Eddie doll from Wee Wonderfuls, and we made it yesterday and today. I used the scraps from the t-shirt I made for D to make Eddie’s shirt. The Bean chose everything...

KCWC early start

So last year, a friend gave me some of her old clothes to refashion…. I turned this pair of stretch cord jeans into maternity pants a while back, but the stretch is a little too much, and the maternity aspect makes them fall down. I thought and thought about how to fix them, and then decided just to refashion them entirely. So, this morning, the Bean and I made her a new pair of pants. Given that she is still wearing her 12- 18m pants as shorts, I just copied a pair of those, and made them way longer.   Too long, perhaps, but we cuffed them for today, and as she’s finally...

A bag.

as part of passing on a board position at the kiddos’ preschool, I made a bag to hold the 1st VP binder…. I used some stash gaberdine, some lovely circa 1934 dots (won during the White Elephant at the LAMQG retreat), and some Quilters Linen (LOOOOOVE) I put pockets inside for pens, keys, etc, and embroidered the outside pocket with a simple flower, just for fun…. it wound up being a really handy size, I might need to make more… I started with rectangles, 17×19″, and I think the bottom triangles were...

Happy Birthday to my sister…

I was asked to make a Keyka Lou zip clutch from some new fabrics by RK, but wasn’t sure about how they would appear on the finished bag, so I decided to test the pattern… I used some scraps, which happened to match this bag… the finished bag was super cute, the pattern was awesome, but we wound up using different fabrics to make the bag, as the original print was too large for this bag… but I highly recommend it to anyone looking to make a cute zip clutch…. since it was made in the middle of the night on my sister’s birthday, it was packaged along with...

Market time

I got my postage stamp quilt top done just in time. Quilting it will have to wait till June, as I’ve been informed that the craze of market has begun. This week I have to paper piece a quilt top: Design, sew, and write the pattern for a duvet cover; make a clutch bag or 2; make a pair of ladies shorts, and a pair of reversible baby pants; design, sew, and write the pattern for a sewing machine cover; make some free-motion-quilting samples; write up the pattern for that lift-the-flap bunting quilt; sew a shop sample and write the pattern for that hobo bag I designed, and, um, maybe...
